Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am start.
Could the ride leaders please all chip in where we can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible? Please volunteer where you can to lead groups.
If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
Please bring some money along to have a coffee etc in McDonalds in Balloch.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
Weather is to be around 4 degrees so wrap up well, 80 - 90% chance of rain and cloudy, with a 19 mph westerly westerly wind gusting to 38mph.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and CHEEKY CHALLENGE.
During the Autumn and winter ride we tend to incorporate Race Pace into Cheeky Challenge and concentrate on group riding and staying fluid as a group.
Everyone can take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the faster groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph
Cheeky Challenge is 18 - 20 mph
**the speeds quoted are the average you should expect over the course of the ride and various sections will be faster and slower depending on the terrain and the flow of the group**
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool as you should not expect the other riders to have spares to cater for any mishaps. Our members should always be self sufficient Please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean** See you all Sunday.
