GGCC Club Run, Sunday 13th March 2016 - South & 48 Miles
SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FORMAT- PLEASE READ / IMPORTANT
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for 8:30am sharp start.
We plan to head south this weekend towards Fenwick and back over Eaglesham Moor.
THERE IS NO OFFICIAL COFFEE STOP ARRANGED BUT SUGGESTION IS WE STOP AT WINDFARM ON RETURN INTO TOWN. PLEASE BRING SUFFICIENT MONEY TO BUY YOUR OWN COFFEE / TEA. We will call Windfarm to let them know groups will be coming for drinks but you purchase your own so no money collected.
Fenwick could not host us but we will do the Fenwick route and stop at windfarm.
We will go through some basic safety, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
AMENDMENT TO RIDE – We will split into our paced groups at the Arch and set off from there to minimise stops. Each group MUST stay together and work as a group. We will still ride out of town TOGETHER in our groups but it will mean that we don’t have to stop to arrange groups. At the Malletsheaugh we will start and ride at the advertised speeds of each paced group (but just not stop) – hope this makes sense.
Group leaders will decide on pace of group and arrange ride format.
The cheeky Challenge Groups and Race Pace, will take a left at Kilmaurs with the challenge and steady groups turning left at the traffic lights at Stewarton.
**Each group can decide amongst themselves what route they take.
All groups can stop at The Windfarm for a coffee stop. Each group will set off in groups and travel over the Eaglesham Moor using the B764 back towards East Kilbride.
Each group will make their own way back to Glasgow Green.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

Forecast is to be cloudy but dry with only a 10% chance of rain. 7 degrees with a 3 mph wind from the SE gusting to 7mph.
Groups should contain between 10 - 12 riders.
Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.
Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.
Race Pace is faster at above 20mph for consistent efforts
**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions
**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard) **If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
