As GGCC looks ahead to 2017, we wanted to share some details with our members. As some of you who came along to our Christmas Night Out and Awards Night, there will be a few changes that are key to moving forward in 2017.
As of the 1st of January 2017, GGCC will be an independent bike club. This means that we will no longer have an official affiliation to Dales Cycles. Since 2013, Dales Cycles have supported GGCC in many ways and we are extremely grateful to Debbie, Jonathan, Jim and the wider team in Dales for way in which they have looked after the club and our members. We know many of our members are loyal customers of Dales and have been for many years and Dales are always keen to support our members with cycle related advice and services going forward.
A huge thanks to everyone at Dales Cycles for supporting our club in recent years. It has been very much appreciated.
Our club confined events will be improved and will now have more prize categories to drive “friendly” competition across various age and gender and categories. To make sure we provide a higher level of support for members our entry fee per event will increase to £5. We feel this is still great value for money for a club confined event. Keep an eye out for the 2017 Events Calendar which is being finalised in the coming weeks.
Looking ahead at 2017, GGCC are now accepting membership fees. Our 2017 Annual Membership will now cost £20. The fees have reduced slightly though we feel we can still provide a high level of structure and a platform for everyone to ride their bike in a safe and fun environment. We will still have some member benefits provided by other supporters though we will not be affiliated with a local bike shop.
We are hoping that many our members will renew their memberships with us and will support the club in 2017. We ask that all fees are paid electronically via PayPal or bank transfer. Our PayPal address for payments is theteam@glasgowgreencycleclub.co.uk. Please make sure you opt to pay this as a gift as there can be a handling fee which comes off your payment before we receive it. If you would prefer to pay by online banking, please drop us a note asking for the GGCC bank details. Lastly if you wish to pay via the GGCC website, there is an additional £2 fee to cover handling charges by our online payment provider.
We will be looking to review the membership numbers by the end of January. At that point we will then amend the database and remove those members who haven’t paid from the list and the closed Facebook Page.
