GGCC Club Run, Sunday 5th Feb 2017 - North & 50 Miles
NEW ROUTE and NON STOP WITH COFFEE AT END
This week we will be heading over 2 of our favourite climbs - Crow Road and Tam ma Doon.
We will head out towards the Asda at Robroyston and split into our groups, from there to Torrance and right towards Lennoxtown, over the Crow Road and along the back and over Tak ma Doon into Kilsyth and head back into town via Stepps.
There is NO COFFEE STOP arranged as we plan to goto West Bar afterwards for coffee but nothing has been arranged so bring more than a washer to buy your coffee. If you feel you want to stop en route then you can decide on the day but this is a format we sometimes do to get some longer miles in the legs,
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for 8:30am sharp start.
**GROUP LEADERS will be identified and nominated at Glasgow Green and a quick brief will be discussed for the ride ahead and agreed. At the split point before we move to paced groups, each group leader will get their respective group together and brief the group on the etiquette of the ride, what should and will happen and the format of the day so everyone in the group fully understands so everyone gets the most from the group they take part in.
We will go through some basic safety, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
Group leaders will decide on pace of group and arrange ride format.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

Forecast is to be cloudy but dry, with 10% chance of rain, 3- 4 degrees, and a wind of 3mph from the South East gusting to 6mph.
Groups should contain between 10 - 12 riders
There is NO race pace as we are now in the winter months and its about steady miles.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR GROUP WORKS TOGETHER AND WORKS AS A GROUP.
This time of year is about building a base for the coming months
Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.
Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.
**Each group stays together and works as a group and does not drop anyone so nobody is left exposed and riding solo
**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions
**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard)
**If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
