GGCC Club Run, Sunday 620h August 2017 - Southwest & 57  Miles

**NEW ROUTE** Its what you have been asking for GGCC'ers so get involved :-)

Many Thanks to Gavin Blackburn for this one. Really appreciate the time and effort you have taken pulling this together for us all :-)

Gavin will take the lead this week in terms of ride set up as he knows the route very well. Gavin and the group leaders will work together on behalf of each group so that everyone is happy with the format and direction and so that we can all work together.

With it being a new route its probably a goo idea if all groups work really tight tomorrow and stick together, please remember tight rotations and tight lines on the road.

GOING SOUTHWEST THIS WEEKEND ON A BRAND NEW, OUT THE BOX, STILL SHINY AND NEW ROUTE!! ............NEW ADVENTURES!!!

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for 8:30am sharp start.

We will be heading out of town via Pollockshields Road then onto Kennishead Road, Take the B773 (Darnley Road) and then onto Neilston Road through the village of Uplawmoor. Then head north up to Howwood. From there you head to Lochwinnnochand then the A760 to Kilbirnie. Get onto the B777 to Beith and down to Dunlop on the B706 then onto Stewarton. Take Cutstraw Rd onto A77 then up and over the the Windfarm.

All groups can stop at The Windfarm for a coffee stop. Each group will set off together and travel over the Eaglesham Moor using the B764 back towards East Kilbride.

WE WILL STOP AT WINDFARM ON RETURN INTO TOWN. PLEASE BRING SUFFICIENT MONEY TO BUY YOUR OWN COFFEE / TEA. ITS NOT A £2 DEAL SO AT WINDFARM YOU BUY YOUR OWN.

**THIS ROUTE HAS BEEN RIDEN AND TESTED AND IT IS APPROPRIATE FOR D ROTATIONS AND GROUP RIDING**

We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Group leaders will decide on pace of group and arrange ride format.

All groups can stop at The Windfarm for a coffee stop. Each group will set off together and travel over the Eaglesham Moor using the B764 back towards East Kilbride.

Each group will make their own way back to Glasgow Green

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

Forecast is to be sunny and dry with only a less than 5% chance of rain, with temperatures up around 16 -17 degrees. Wind of 6 mph from SW gusting to 12mph.

Groups should contain between 10 - 12 riders.

All groups stay together and work together!!......this is a training ride not a race!! Nobody gets dropped and any one wanting a dig over the climbs please regroup at the top.

Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.

Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.

Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.

Race Pace is usually around 20 - 22mph with consistent hard efforts..

**Each group stays together and works as a group and does not drop anyone so nobody is left exposed and riding solo

**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions

**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard) **If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

From The Team @ GGCC
