GGCC Annual Awards Ceremony incorporating Club Championship Presentation & Xmas Celebrations
What a year 2017 has been for The Mighty GGCC!
A huge thank you goes out to each and every valued member and friend in 2017 for making GGCC what it is after a somewhat challenging year for me personally and not being around as much as I would have liked, the club has gone from strength to strength and we are better than ever and we have a an even stronger and fantastic foundation to develop 2018 into an even better year! Credit to you guys for achieving that!
Friday 24th November saw our annual awards ceremony and our inaugural winners of our new for 2017 Club Championships which most definitely was a close-run thing!.......some phenomenal performances over the course of the year and the championship really did offer opportunities for everyone to get involved and score some points! We will be running our Club Championship again in 2018 with some tweaks, twists and slight changes to make it even more inclusive and competitive!.......watch this space!
Thanks, on the night go out to Michael McPartlin for pulling the whole event together and DJ Doog Carruthers for providing the entertainment.........it was greatly appreciated!
It was also great to have the honour of Isabelle Dorrians company to present our brand-new award, The Tommy Dorrian Award in memory of the wee guy.
On the night we celebrated our male and female 2017 Club Champions……. the first ever champions of GGCC, and we also recognised each category winner across Senior, Master and Veteran.
We awarded our ‘traditional’ 14 glass awards, and, we decided to recognise and award members for contributions to the club that have really helped make a difference.
Cris Corvi, positioned The Tommy Dorrian Award and what this means to the club and with the help of Isabelle it was awarded to the individual that just captures cycling……just how Tommy would have wanted, and I hope we did him proud.
The lifetime achievement Award was given over to the one person that has helped make GGCC what it is today and without this person we wouldn’t be the club we are!
Lastly……. well……. there were, as always……. the funnies!!........the random awards to the folk that just put a wee smile on your face!
Hopefully you have had a blast in 2017 and I’m looking forward to seeing you all out on 2 wheels in 2018……. GGCC’s objective is to be as good as it can be giving you guys and gals the best possible club experience and I hope you choose to be a part of it!
