Many Thanks to those GGCC members who supported and attended tonight. It was a great opportunity to hear whats happening in your region and be part of the future and inpit into what we want from our region.
There is a new RDO for the West and Fraser Johnston starts on July 9th. Lauren who was the RDO has become the Go Ride coash along with Rab Wardell
There are 3 project groups and please feel free to get involved in any one of them as they are open to all and they are there to help develop the areas they represent. There is a Road and Track group that I sit on that is looking to help develop racing across the 2 disciplines. A youth group that looks at all disciplines for youth riders and also an Off Road group that I also sit on but please be aware that this includes CX which wasn't made obvious so if you want to get involved in shaping the future of offroad cycling and CX then message me and Ill put you in touch with the relevant people in SC to get onto the forum group.
This is YOUR chance to shape your sport so if you can give 1 or 2 hours every month or so then get involved!
A RDG (Regional Development Group) sits across all the forum groups and tonight the representatives were nominated and appointed from those that attended. I am very pleased to say that GGCC have a huge representation in the RDG group which will meet every 6 months and oversee the decisions made in the forums. There will be 9 that sit on the group along with representitives from Glasgow Life, Sport Scotland and Scotish Cycling (**If you had attended you could have been one of them) Myself, Doog, Zosia and Richard will do our / their very best to take your ideas, input, feedback and get the best possible for you all as cyclists. Our first RDG meeting is July 30th so please feel free to send us your ideas, concerns....anything at all so we know what you want from your region.
Scottish Cycling operate a 4 year strategy and the new 4 year strategy cycle is due to start in April of 2019 so now is the chance to speak up and message us, any one of us or email into theteam@glasgowgreencycleclub.co.uk with your thoughts. Our first RDG meeting is 30th July. The forum groups meet monthly and the road and track group have already met 4 times and have some great ideas coming up like a regional race team for a team race in the future......watch this space!
I would absolutely encourage you to attend the forums that are twice a year, tonight being one of them as it really is your chance to speak up.
Ill keep you all fully up to date with how things progress but its really positive seeing Scottish Cycling making some changes BUT the proof will be in what comes out of all this as tangible, measurable actions that you can see, touch and feel.
Thanks
