Club Run Sunday 19th August 2018 - North (Larger Loop)

17 Aug 2018

GGCC Club Run - Sunday 19th August 2018 - North Anticlockwise (Tak / North third / Crow loop)

Owing to Last weeks Road race shenanigans, and the rather damp conditions, the route that was originally planned for last week was either modified by some, cut short by others, or abandoned altogether!

Therefore we will have another crack at it this week, hopefully the weather is a little kinder!

The route is posted here, courtesy of Gavin Blackburn, and we would appreciate if you all make sure you understand the route in full. It’s a 56-mile route BUT there is a shorter option for those that want it, so something for everyone.

The route heads out towards the A80 through Stepps, and onto Kilsyth before taking in Tak ma Doon, over the junction and along and north through Buckieburn, bearing left towards North Third. Then back down towards Fintry where we will then attack the crow with fury!

**there is a shorter option as if you want a shorter route you can turn left along Carron Valley after the Tak and pick up the official route at the foot of the Crow Road in Fintry**

The route then continues out of Lennoxtown over to Strathblane where we will stop for coffee, and back to town via Milngavie, Auchenhowie Rd  and Through Possilpark and onto the Green via Cathedral St / High St.

Please take a look at the route and make sure that EVERYONE is comfortable with the route prior to Sunday!

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30 am sharp start.

We will split into pace groups at the Crowood Inn on the A80, Steady, Challenge, Cheeky Challenge and Race Pace.

Steady is steady and averages 14-16mph

Challenge should push you and will average 16-18mph

Cheeky Challenge will be a tough group and will average 18-20mph

Race Pace will consistently remain at 20+mph with hard sustained efforts.

Could the road captains and ride leaders please all chip in and help where they can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible throughout the day. We will make each group around 10 - 12 riders.

PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR £2 FOR COFFEE AT THE KIRKHOUSE IN STRATHBLANE.

If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Weather is to be ‘questionable’ and we may get damp! Met Office currently states that there is a 60% - 80% of rain up until 1pm and then drying up so bring clothing to cater for that.

13 degrees and a 10-12mph Easterly wind gusting to 22mph

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

We look forward to seeing you and we hope that you all have a great day!

See you all Sunday
