GGCC Club Ride details for Wednesday 26th September 2018
- A80 Loops / 24 mile
PLEASE BRING LIGHTS.
A80 loops - 24 mile Non Stop at group pace.
THIS WILL BE OUR LAST OFFICIAL WEDNESDAY EVENING CLUB RIDE. WINTER
SPLINTER WILL TAKE OVER FROM OCTOBER. OFFICIAL WEDNESDAY CLUB RIDES WILL START
AGAIN ON MARCH 6th 2019
Please meet at THE CROWWOOD HOTEL just by Stepps (where we split into
groups on a Sunday) for a 7pm sharp start. We will ride 4 x loops of the A80
circuit starting and finishing at The Crowwood Hotel. The circuit is left out
of the Hotel, and turn at the Mollinsburn Roundabout and then along to The
Dolly Parton roundabout and turn. There are several sets of traffic lights that
may hold you up but each groups pace will determine if you hit or miss them.
This route is used by several chaingangs on a Wednesday so please be
aware of other groups.
Please dont join in with other groups - if they are faster than you, let
them pass, if you are faster than then, indicate your intentions and pass as 1
group wide on the right and let them know you are passing. Do not mix it up
with them and please keep groups separate.
Please make sure you are familiar with the route prior to Wednesdays
ride. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/11956385
Can ride leaders assist with new rider briefings, M-check, group
allocation, first aid pack check and any other areas of focus that enable to
ride to go without a hitch? If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up
where possible?
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group
riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so
that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first
aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
Weather is to be overcast but dry, with a 10 - 20% chance of rain
currently, 13 degrees, and 12mph winds from the SW gusting to 24mph.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE , CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE
PACE
Everyone takes the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get
dropped from the faster groups, there will always be a group coming up that you
can join.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph
Cheeky Challenge is 18 - 20 mph
Race Pace is above 20mph for consistent periods of time
**Speeds quoted are an overall average and the groups may be faster and
slower at certain points throughout the ride.
**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due
to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as
someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps
up if going through to hard)
**If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step
down as you may be in the wrong group
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that
holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure
your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Wednesday
From The Team @ GGCC
