17 Oct 2021

GGCC Club Run, Sunday 17th October - Northeast & 60 Miles

Going back for a re-run of a route out to Falkirk we did earlier in the year.

This Sunday we will head out of the Green at 8.30 in usual roll-out groups, where we will ride to Kaldis car park to gather into pace groups. (please note Kaldis will not be offering coffees this weekend!) Groups will then head out on the REVERSE-route of the Frankie weaver until Slamannan, at this point we will turn left towards Falkirk and on through to Helix Park and the 'Kelpies' for a rest and coffee stop. from there we will head south through Hallglen, California and Avonbridge and then joining the Frankie route again at Limerigg and back in via Gartcosh

*Stopping for coffees at the helix cafe, They do have a good selection of hot/cold drinks and cakes so please remember your cash*

Please meet as normal at the Green for an 8.30 SHARP start and we will leave from there OR the 2nd pick up point is at Kaldis on Edinburgh Road and the leaving time from there is 9am AT THE LATEST.

With it being a new-ish route all groups please work really tight and stick together, please remember tight rotations and tight lines on the road.

**THIS ROUTE HAS BEEN RIDEN AND TESTED AND IT IS APPROPRIATE FOR D ROTATIONS AND GROUP RIDING**

We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Group leaders will decide on pace of group and arrange ride format.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

Route details - PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND

https://www.strava.com/routes/14309980

Forecast is to be wet & overcast, with temperatures up around 13 degrees. Wind of 8 mph from South gusting to 17mph.

Groups should contain between 10 - 12 riders.

All groups stay together and work together!!......this is a training ride not a race!! Nobody gets dropped and any one wanting a dig over the climbs please regroup at the top.

Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.

Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.

Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.

Race Pace is usually around 20 - 22mph with consistent hard efforts..

**Each group stays together and works as a group and does not drop anyone so nobody is left exposed and riding solo

**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions

**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard) **If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

COVID AWARE

Can we stress again the below –

If you don’t feel safe, don’t attend. Don’t put yourself in a situation you are not comfortable with. I understand that some may be more cautious than others

1. Participants are required to carry a face covering at all times.

2. If you are in any way ill or have any symptoms at all….DO NOT attend a club ride

3. If you have been in a public situation that you feel there was or may have been a risk with regards to Covid-19, please do not attend and wait until the next club ride

4. Be respectful (as you always are), be thoughtful and mindful of your actions during your time with your fellow members.
