GGCC Club Ride details for Wednesday 6th October - A80 Loops / 24 mile

A80 loops - 24 mile Non Stop at group pace.

Last OFFICIAL GGCC WEDNESDAY CLUB RIDES BFORE WE HAND OVER TO THE WINTER SPLINTER

Great night last Wednesday, lets have another one like that to finish off the season!!

**Sundays obviously stay the same all through the year**

Please meet at THE CROWWOOD HOTEL just by Stepps for a 7pm sharp start. We will ride 4 x loops of the A80 circuit starting and finishing at The Crowwood Hotel. The circuit is left out of the Hotel, and turn at the Mollinsburn Roundabout and then along to The Dolly Parton roundabout and turn.

This route is used by several chaingangs on a Wednesday so please be aware of other groups, if we find ourselves catching another group, please pass quickly & safely and do not slow down, make sure we don't have a situation where chaingangs merge into one!

Please DO NOT join in with other groups - if they are faster than you, let them pass, if you are faster than then, indicate your intentions and pass as 1 group wide on the right and let them know you are passing. DO NOT mix it up with them and please keep groups separate.

Please make sure you are familiar with the route prior to Wednesday’s ride.

Can ride leaders assist with new rider briefings, M-check, group allocation, first aid pack check and any other areas of focus that enable to ride to go without a hitch? If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Weather is to be dry but rain forecast for 8.00pm,  12 degrees, and 6mph winds from the South gusting to 12mph.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE , CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE PACE (4 groups)

Everyone takes the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the faster groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph

Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph

Cheeky Challenge is 18 - 20 mph

Race Pace is above 20mph for consistent periods of time

**Speeds quoted are an overall average and the groups may be faster and slower at certain points throughout the ride.

**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through too hard)

**If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

See you all Wednesday
