GGCC 11 YEAR ANNIVERSARY RIDE DETAILS……come and join in 😊

Club ride details for Sunday 14th August – LONG POST BUT PLEASE READ AND GET INVOLVED

11 years and counting…….11 years of riding bikes, having fun, making friends and turning the pedals!

It all started in August of 2011 with 3 on the first ride…..lets see how many we get for what is our yearly celebration of where we are and what we have become……the best cycle club by far!.....and that’s down to each and every one of you!

Dig out your best kit (no threadbare shorts with arses on show), fill the bidons (anyone want a GGCC one?? 😉), practice your ‘social spells’ (no pulling through like a train), practice shouting ‘OUTSIDE’….’MIDDLE’…..’INSIDE’……..and bring your best patter and craic……its time to celebrate…….

This year we are heading south and west…for smooth roads, ‘fish’ (all will become clear) and lumps and bumps…no that’s not you looking at yourself in lycra in the mirror…. its the hilly roads 😉

For Sundays ride we are planning a social ride where all the groups will be mixed to give everyone a chance to ride with someone you may not get the chance to normally ride with and catch up with your fellow members and friends on the day as much as we can but we will of course play it by ear but it would be nice on this one ride of the year to forget paced groups?

The plan is to meet at 8.15am sharp so we can get a group photograph which has become customary on each anniversary ride and then set off at 8.30am sharp.

The route for Sunday is below and it’s a 63-mile route.

We plan to do this as an ‘all in one’ BUT have a very short stop at The Auchengree Farm Shop at around half of the way around and then get back to Glasgow for………..FISH AND CHIPS!!!!!...let me explain….

It will be nice to finish the ride and get some time to have food, get a drink and catch up so……

We ask that when we stop at Auchengree its for a quick bidon fill, a very quick coffee so we ask that no complicated orders are placed as they have said they will be super busy so the easier we make it the quicker we get back on the road.

When we finish we plan to go to Coronation Café for fish and chips so we can gather orders at the quick coffee stop and then get them into Cris and when we get back we can get our food, grab a casual spot and eat them and then go on somewhere safe for drinks and a catch up for those that want to join…..no pressure…..its something a bit different and we thought it would be nice to make the most of what will be great weather…….

The route is basically a loop towards Stewarton and then back via the roads that skirt Glengarnock an then Lochwinnoch, Bridge of Weir and then back in through Renfrew. PLEASE look at the route and load it up on your device if you can.

Sundays Sportive ride is a social ride so there will be NO PACED GROUPS, this day is about riding at a nice pace and having the time to mix the groups and enjoy the days riding, it’s not a training ride. It’s a chance to ride with folk you may not normally ride with.

Could the road captains and ride leaders please all chip in and help where they can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible throughout the day. We will make each group around 10 - 12 riders but have stops along the way to enable further mixing of groups and we can discuss the finer detail on Sunday and welcome your ideas too as it’s your day!

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

The weather is going to be BRAW!!!! 20 plus degrees, a light SW wind of 7mph and a super low chance of any rain!!.

REMEMBER - NOBODY gets dropped on Sunday as it’s a social, so we ask that everyone really works together on Sundays Sportive, thanks

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

We look forward to seeing you and we hope that you all have a great day!

See you all Sunday and Happy Birthday GGCC
