GGCC Christmas Santa Run 2022 - Dumbarton - 30 miles

17 Dec 2022

GGCC Club Run, Sunday 18th December 2022 - Santa Social Run to Dumbarton.
Last Official Run of 2022.
Ho Ho Ho.........with Christmas just around the corner, ......its time to break out the Santa Hats and Tinsel!! Its time for our Xmas social ride, so go crazy with the Xmas decorations and get yourself and your bike dressed up and decorated for Xmas.
Never before have we encountered such diverse and unpredictable weather, The last two weeks have been less than ideal for riding our bikes in, so for the same reasons as last week we are keeping a close eye on hourly forecasts and whats happening outside before we commit to riding as a club. Fingers crossed we are go for tomorrow but check in to the GGCC facebook feed at 08.00 for final update.
In the past we have had mini Xmas trees on panniers, flashing frames, baubles, tinsel and santa hats and elves and Penguins!! So lets see what craziness turns up this year!
Its the last official ride of 2022 before our 2 week Xmas break when we come back for the first ride of 2023 on Sunday 8th January so come along, get involved and have some fun!
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for 09.00 am start. (Later start to allow more time for morning thaw)
We plan to head west to Dumbarton where we will invade McDonalds like a troop of little elves!!
We will head out of town along broomielaw, but cut up Finnieston street to avoid the road past the SECC which is never gritted. Along Argyle st, dumbarton road and then re-join South Street, along Dumbarton Road, to Clydebank, Old Kilpatrick, Bowling, and on to Dumbarton before returning the same way.
This is a social ride for fun so no paced groups and a good chance to round off the year with some banter and fun.
We will go through some basic safety, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride - make sure your baubles aren't hanging too low!?!?
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.
Its forecast to be cold, overcast but dry with temperatures about 2-3 degrees. Wind of 10mph from E gusting to 21mph.
Groups should contain between 10 - 12 riders.
Lets round off what has been a fantastic 2022 doing what we do best, riding our bikes and having some bants!!
Hopefully see you all tomorrow!
