GGCC Club Run, Sunday 14th April 2024 - South & 51 Miles
'South And O'er The Moor'
This week we plan to head south out of the city over to stewarton, taking in the stewarton road, clunch and cutstraw. Then its down to the Kilmaurs golf club on the back road. Then heading back up the A77 and up the Eaglesham moor to the windffarm where we will stop for coffee and cakes!
After the break we head down the moor towards eaglesham village, turning left and up to Bonnyton, down to waterfoot, Busby, Carmunnock bypass and back to the green via polmadie.
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for 8:30am sharp start.
We will go through some basic safety, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
Social paced groups out to the “Malletsheugh” where we will split into paced groups
RIDE ETIQUETTE– We will ride out of town in groups as normal and split into paced groups at the Malletsheaugh. From there, each group MUST stay together and work as a group. At the Malletsheaugh we will start and ride at the advertised speeds of each paced group. If there is any split in the group (on Climbs etc) it is the responsibility of EVERYONE, not just the group leader, to get things back together at the top.
Ride Captains and Group leaders will decide on pace of group and arrange ride format.
Option for faster groups to continue on to Kilmaurs once into Stewarton, group leaders can decide on the day.
All groups will use Whitelees Windfarm for a coffee stop. Café is open will indoor seating available.
Each group will make their own way back to Glasgow Green, over the Eaglesham Moor using the B764 turning at Eaglesham, through Thorntonhall and over Cathkin Braes back to Glasgow Green
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

Forecast is to be dry with a slight chance of a shower at the end, temperatures of 6-9 degrees, SW wind of 16 mph gusting to 29 mph.
All groups stay together and work together!!......this is a training ride not a race!!
Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.
Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.
Race pace is consistently faster with possible surges depending on terrain.
**Each group stays together and works as a group and does not drop anyone so nobody is left exposed and riding solo
**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions
**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard) **If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
