GGCC 13 YEAR ANNIVERSARY RIDE DETAILS……come and join in 😊
Club ride details for Sunday 11th August
13 years and counting…….13 years of riding bikes, having fun, making friends and turning the pedals!
Dig out your best kit…..its time to celebrate…….
This year we are heading south and west…for smooth roads, lumps and bumps and fish and chips!
For Sundays ride we are planning a social ride where we will try and mix groups if you want but probably fall into paced groups…..we always do! 😉….up to you guys n gals 😊
ROUTE DETAILS
GGCC 13 Year Anniversary Ride - 11th Aug 2024 | 63.3 mi Cycling Route on Strava
The plan is to meet at 8.15am sharp so we can get a group photograph which has become customary on each anniversary ride and then set off at 8.30am sharp.
The route for Sunday is below and it’s a 63-mile route.
We will ride out to the Malletsheugh and split if that’s what we decide and then ride to The Auchengree Farm Shop at around half way for a coffee stop and then get back to Glasgow for………..FISH AND CHIPS!!!!!...let me explain….
It will be nice to finish the ride and get some time to have food, get a drink and catch up so……
We ask that when we stop at Auchengree for coffee, try and have simple orders and no complicated orders are placed as they have said they will be super busy so the easier we make it the quicker we get back on the road.
When we finish we plan to go to Coronation Café for fish and chips. At the Coronation when we get back, grab a casual spot on the grass over from the café, and eat them and then go on somewhere safe for drinks and a catch up for those that want to join…..no pressure…..its something a bit different and we thought it would be nice to make the most of what will be great weather…….
The route is basically a loop towards Stewarton and then back via the roads that skirt Glengarnock an then Lochwinnoch, Bridge of Weir and then back in through Renfrew. PLEASE look at the route and load it up on your device if you can.
Sundays Sportive ride is a social ride, this day is about riding at a nice pace and having the time to maybe mix the groups and enjoy the days riding, it’s not a training ride. It’s a chance to ride with folk you may not normally ride with.
Could the road captains and ride leaders please all chip in and help where they can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible throughout the day. We will make each group around 10 - 12 riders but have stops along the way to enable further mixing of groups and we can discuss the finer detail on Sunday and welcome your ideas too as it’s your day!
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
The weather is going to be dry!! 15 – 18 degrees, a light SE wind of 7mph and a super low chance of any rain!!.
REMEMBER - NOBODY gets dropped on Sunday as it’s a social, so we ask that everyone really works together on Sundays Sportive, thanks
Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean
We look forward to seeing you and we hope that you all have a great day!
See you all Sunday and Happy Birthday GGCC
