‘GGCC does Gravel’ – The Northern Circular
On Saturday 28th Sept, we plan to kick off the GGCC does Gravel series with the first ride being The Northern Circular.
This route takes in a route with a varied surface from canal paths, some easy single track, some WHW, some John Muir Way, some of the Pipe Track and a couple of rougher sections but ALL 100% Rideable with some basic skills…..which you all have!
Ive ridden this and its an ace route.
The whole route is a 75 miler and it’s a full day out like the Tommy Tons BUT there is am optional bail out in the image below just before Carbeth that shoots you down straight into Strathblane where you pick up the route once more…..this reduces the route to 49 miles.
The route start at The Beafeater on Hamilton Road BUT does pass directly through Glasgow Green at 9.5 mile for those that want to pick up the route and group there.
Stops a plenty and opportunities at – Milngavie (21 mile), Edenmill Farm and Café just after Carbeth (26 mile), Drymen (lunch at 42 mile), Strathblane / Blanefield (52 mile) and Kirkintilloch (61 mile) **stops can and will be as needed)
Weather looks grand at minute and this route is suitable for mountain bikes, gravel bikes and CS=X bikes but DOES require wider tyres that are appropriate for off road riding.
Post below if you are planning to come along and suggested meet time is 8:30 at Beafeater so probably pass through Glasgow Green 1 hour after that.
Cheers
