02 Apr 2013

GGCC Club Ride - Wednesday 3rd April - The East Kilbride Roundabout Rodeo.

Its the East Kilbride Roundabout Rodeo, so Greenlees Road as the warm up and then onto East Kilbride. We will then work on some group rotation and chain-gang up and down The Queensway before heading back via Castlemilk.

Meet at 6.45pm for a 7pm sharp start at the McDonalds at the end of London Road near the junction of the M74.

I am away with work and Ray cant ride due to injury so please can we have 2 or 3 'Ride Leader' volunteers to lead each group and make sure the groups are safe and 'looked after' as per our club rules and ethos.

We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO WEDNESDAYS RIDE.

Weather is forecast to be dry, sunny and a barmy 5 degrees with a light breeze! Summer bikes, shorts and short sleeve tops!! ;-)

In a couple of weeks time we will kick off our Strathaven route but the nights need to be slightly lighter.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and RACE PACE at defined and agreed points along the route.

Steady is steady and usually sit between 12 - 14mph.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 18mph.
Race Pace is faster and is around 20mph+.

Please pick your group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained **
**Also please ensure you have good lights as its still dark at the time when the club run is on**

We look forward to seeing you all Wednesday.

From all the team @ GGCC
