GGCC Club ride - Sunday 23 June 'National RR Day'
21 Jun 2013
GGCC Club Ride details for Sunday 23rd June - South Glasgow route – Eaglesham Moor and A77 (with optional Fenwick loop) – 48 miles
This Sunday we plan to head south towards Eaglesham Moor and then up and down the A77 before heading back into town to watch the National Road Race Championships!!
As the National Road Race Championships are being held in Glasgow on Sunday and starting at Glasgow Green we 'may' have to meet at an alternative location at or near the green so please keep an eye on facebook / twitter for an update but rest assured it will be as close as possible to the arch. We would request that you keep your eyes and ears open as you approach the Green so you can spot your fellow members.
After the ride there will be a number of us staying in town to catch the pro's in action and we will watch the race from various vantage points that we can discuss on Sunday.
We will have a coffee stop at the Windfarm on Eaglesham Moor.
Please meet 'near / on / close to' the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start. Remember your money for your coffee and refreshment at the Windfarm too.
The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.
http://connect.garmin.com/course/3956643
Weather is to be around 14 degrees with some rain, with 4 mph southerly winds. The route has been planned to have a tailwind on the start of the route.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and potentially RACE pace if the numbers and weather allow it.
Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Race or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is 20+mph
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.
