Coffee & Cakes Club Run 4th August 2013

01 Aug 2013

GGCC Club Ride details for Sunday 4th August -

COFFEE & CAKES @ Dales Cycles.

North – Torrance, Milngavie, Strathblane, Kilsyth, Stepps and back to Dales Cycles in Glasgow.

There has been a tweak to the normal Coffee and Cakes run to minimize the traffic lights at the end of the run.

We suggest everyone checks out the final 2 miles of the route as this will be new to most riders in the club. The change should see a simpler way back to Dales.

Route for this weeks Sunday Club Run

The route will be slightly longer than usual and this will help us prepare for next week Anniversary Sportive as the second leg of the ride next week will be 37 miles. (total ride length next week will be 71 miles)

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for a 8:30am sharp start.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Weather is to be around 14 - 16 degrees, dry, with a North Eastery Wind at 13mph.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and RACE pace.

Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Race or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is 20+mph

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

We should all donate a pound or two to the team at Dales when we pop in for coffee & cakes as they all go to a lot of trouble to look after us when we are in.

See you all Sunday.

From all the team GGCC
