GGCC Club Ride – 29th September 2013 - 'North towards The Crow - anti-clockwise' 50 miles
This week we will be heading north, anti-clockwise out through Stepps, towards Kilsyth and then Crow Road before stopping at Strathblane for coffee and then heading back in via Milngavie and Torrance.
Please meet at the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.
The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend). We have a couple of spare first aid packs we will bring along to hand out to those of you who are first aid trained and are happy to carry a pack.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.
http://connect.garmin.com/course/3622115#
Weather is to be around 10 degrees, with little chance of rain and winds of 10 mph blowing from the East
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and RACE PACE
Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Race or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join. Remember we have the '2 strikes and you are out' rule in all groups apart from steady (we will run over this again on Sunday)
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is 20+mph
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
