GGCC Club Ride details for Sunday 6th October - COFFEE & CAKES @ Dales Cycles.
North – Stepps, Kilsyth, Strathblane, Torrance and back to Dales Cycles in Glasgow.
There has been a tweak to the normal Coffee and Cakes run to minimize the traffic lights at the end of the run.
We suggest everyone checks out the final 2 miles of the route as this will be new to most riders in the club. The change should see a simpler way back to Dales.
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for a 8:30am sharp start.
Can you all bring along some money (£1 or £2) to put in the kitty for the spread that will be put on by the team in Dales? We will collect this before setting off.
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride. Group leaders will be identified before we set off and we will be riding in groups of no bigger than 8.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
Weather is to be around 15 degrees degrees, very little chances of rain, with a south - westerly wind at 10mph.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and RACE pace.
Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Race or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join. REMEMBER for winter we have the '2 strikes and your out ' rule to promote 'team' tactics.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is 20+mph
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.
