On the night of the 24th November 2013, Paul Roche became the first GGCC rider to win a regional championship in the clubs short history.
Paul worked his way through the rounds of the sprint championship to meet two Dooleys Cycles riders in the final round.
The race was very close and Paul had to work hard to make his way by Martin Lonie from 200 metres out to take the win by half a bike length.
Paul has been focused on track sprinting over the past few months with his main goal being the 2014 British Track Masters Championships.
GGCC were well represented on the night. The club had 5 riders take part in the championships which helped the club secure a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in the 10 lap Scratch race. Ricky Warnock took the win on the night with a strong finish to make sure the GGCC riders pulled away from the others in the final lap.
This was the first WoSCA track championships to be held at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow. The evening was well received and GGCC are looking forward to the next event.
