Sunday 12th January Club Run.

10 Jan 2014

GGCC Club Ride – 12th January 2014 - 'North Towards Strathblane and then onto Kilsyth' (49 miles)

This week we will head out through Torrance, Milngavie, onto Strathblane before heading towards Kilsyth and The Boathouse for coffee and then back into town via Stepps. (The Crow Road Climb is optional and will be dependent on the weather.

Please meet at the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.

Please bring along your £2 for coffee and we can collect this before we set off to save time at the Boathouse.

As some of you will be aware, we have a film crew coming along to take some footage of us for a project they are working. This will not interfere with the ride at all.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

http://connect.garmin.com/course/3622115

Weather is to be cold at about 2 degrees, with a 20% chance of rain and a light easterly wind of 7 Mph.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and CHEEKY CHALLENGE (no race pace)

Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Cheeky Challenge or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

Winter is a time for steadier miles so there is no race pace to encourage more group riding, technique and base miles.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph
Cheeky Challenge is around 18mph - 20mph

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
