GGCC Club Ride details for
Sunday 2nd February - COFFEE N CAKES @ Dales Cycles
North Glasgow ride 46 miles
This week its time to enjoy the cakes at Dales so we will head out towards
Stepps, Kilsyth, Lennoxtown, Strathblane, Milngavie, Torrance and back in by
the prison into town to finish at Dales.
You can
download the route @ http://connect.garmin.com/course/create-from-course/4916034#
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am start.
Can you all bring along a couple of quid for your coffee donation and you can
pay this when you get your tea and cakes in Dales!
Could the ride leaders please all chip in where we can and make sure the run
goes as smoothly as possible?
The group leaders should gather their respective groups together before we set
off from the green to run through what pace, rotations etc they will be doing?
If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?
We will go through some basic
safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic
bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows
exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack,
can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
Weather is to be around 3 degrees, with chances of rain and a 20mph southerly
wind.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and CHEEKY CHALLENGE groups. (Race pace
has been scaled back for the winter to encourage steady miles)
Everyone can take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get
dropped from the Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that
you can join.
An
exception is if the steady group want to ride back from Strathblane via Balmore
Road which will hopefully get you back at the same time as the other groups.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph
Cheeky Challenge is 18+mph
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds
back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your
bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.
