Bike Fit service from Dales Cycles.
18 Feb 2014
By Ray Hicks (18th February 2014)
Amazing Bike Fit experience from Dales Cycles carried out by John Dargie.
I spent some very valuable time today with John going through a full bike fit. Until now I had set my bike up by relying on my judgement, taking information I had read on the internet and advice from fellow cyclists. I had found over the past year or so that I was making frequent adjustments to my bike to alleviate slight niggles etc.
I was blown away by the changes John has made in various ways to my set up which now feels extremely comfortable and I definitely feel I have a more efficient set up to help on the longer bike rides.
The level of detail captured in the bike fit today was really interesting. From differences in leg lengths to understanding how flexibility can help in your overall set up was a real eye opener.
The changes that have been made to my set up are;
Different saddle width
Seat height increased and moved back
A shim placed in my left cleat
Cleats adjusted to improve stance on the bike
Bars rotated backwards and a shorter stem to reduce the reach
Increase in spacers to lift the stem height.
Having all the information to hand will allow me to transfer the measurements between bikes.
Knowing what I do now, I cant believe I haven't done this earlier. Its ok to get some detail from the web though this by far is the only way to get it right.
I recommend that if you want to get the most out of your bike and feel more comfortable, you should give John and the team in Dales Cycles a shout.
Thanks again John and I am looking forward to getting out on the road and trying the new set up.
