GGCC Club Ride details - Wednesday 2nd April 2014
East Kilbride Roundabout Run. 25 Miles.

**we will have a few more weeks of the East Kilbride Roundabout Rodeo before switching the the Strathaven route when it gets a little lighter.

We ask that all our riders use front and rear lights during our winter evening rides.

East Kilbride Roundabout Run so Greenlees Road as the warm up and then onto East Kilbride. We will the work on some group rotation and chain-gang up and down The Queensway before heading back via Castlemilk.

After the climb into East Kilbride, everyone will pull into the car park of the Carphone Warehouse/Brewers Fayre. This will allow all the paced groups to be agreed and the group leaders to have a quick 30sec run through of the format of the ride. This will also help as it takes us off the main roads whilst we sort this part of the ride.

The idea is for the race pace to turn left at the Technology Park and head up to the roundabout just past Calderglen Country Park. The other groups will turn right as per usual.

Meet at 6.45pm for a 7pm start at the McDonalds at the end of London Road near the junction of the M74.

We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.

If you have been given a first aid pack or have your own, can you bring this with you on club runs?

Weather is to be 7 degrees, cloudy, though should stay dry. There will be a easterly wind of around 15mph.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE PACE at defined and agreed points along the route.
Groups should contain between 8 and 10 riders.

Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 18 mph average.
Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 20 mph.
Race Pace should be regularly over 20+mph

Please pick your group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained **
