11 Apr 2014

GGCC Spring 10 Mile Time Trial , Sunday 13th April  2014,

This weekend, GGCC will hosts its first Time Trial Event of 2014. The start list is attached.

Start List

If you have not entered already then there will be some spaces on the day for those last minute entries. We already have 70 riders so please be patient as you may need to be set off last.

We plan to head out towards the south side of Glasgow to get to the meeting point of the Ivy India (Formerly the Malletsheugh Inn) on the A77. This part of the ride is 10 miles.

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for 8:30am.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each group runs as smoothly as possible on the way to the A77.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Forecast is to be 8 degress, 15mph wind from the west with a slight chance of rain.

Please remember to bring your £3 which will be your entry fee for the day. Your entry fee includes your race entry, associated insurances for the event as well as snacks and refreshments at the event.

For those of you who will be heading straight to the event and not to the green, there are plenty of car parking spaces and areas to warm up.

Sign on for the event will be from 9:00 am to 9:40 and will be held in the car park of the Ivy India. The team from Dales will be supporting the event helping with sign on and mechanical support. They have also kindly donated the goody bags for the winners on the day. GGCC have also contributed to the prizes by offering a £10 gift voucher for all of the winners.

An event briefing will be held in the car park of the Ivy India at 9:45. We ask that every rider is present for the briefing. This is an important point of the morning as this will inform you of all aspects of the start, course, conditions, finish area and post event prize giving.

The first rider will be set off at 10:01. The distance from the sign on area to the start line is one mile exactly. Please allow up to 10 mins to get to the start time as you will not be able to alter your time and may need to be allocated a later start time.

We would encourage all the riders to stay for the full event and support the riders and prize winners. Sunday is not a day for getting the miles in, its about getting involved and supporting your club and fellow members.

The Ivy India will be open from 9:30 and will have teas, coffees and water available to those who have a later start time. From 11 am, hot snacks will be available as well as hot drinks for all the riders and support crew.

We are expecting the event to finish for around 12:30 (just in time to head home to watch the Paris Robaix)

We look forward to seeing you all on the morning of the event.

From all the team @ GGCC
