GGCC Hill Climb TO THE TOP Sunday 25th May 2014
Total ride length is 52 miles.
This week we will be holding another club confined event.
All the riders will head out to Lennoxtown in mixed groups as a warm up for the hill climb.
Sign on for the event will be from 9:30am. The first rider will set off at 10am. Please bring along £3 for the event which covers your entry fee and coffee at the Fintry Inn which we are using as the coffee stop and the location of the prize giving this week.
The climb from the bottom to the top of the Crow Road is around 3 miles.
The first rider will be set off at 10am. Full Service will be provided by Dales Cycles. There will be marshals and supporters on the course with the finish line being manned by the timing team.
We ask that all the riders, once they have completed the climb to then descend the Crow Road CAREFULLY and head to the Fintry Inn.

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am start. The Radio One Big Weekend is taking place in Glasgow Green though access to the arch can be made from the SaltMarket.
Could the ride leaders please all chip in where we can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible?
The group leaders should gather their respective groups together before we set off from the green to run through what pace, rotations etc they will be doing?
If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
Weather is to be around 13 degrees, cloudy and forecast for light rain with winds around 10 mph from the East.
After the Hill Climb, We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE PACE for the ride back into town.
Everyone can take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the faster groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph
Cheeky Challenge is 18 - 20 mph
Race Pace is 20mph+
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.
From all the team @ GGCC
