The convoy will set off at 8:15 and travel to the Calmac Ferry Terminal, Ardrossan, KA22 8ED where we will buy our ferry tickets (discounted rates apply when using the code Glasgow Green Cycle Club) and set sail on the 9:45 Ferry to Brodick.
For those of you who are heading to the Ferry alone either on bike, rail or car, please leave enough time to get there.
Once on the Island we will host a 1 mile Hill Climb on the String Road. We plan to have this underway by 11:15.
At 12:30 we have a 2 course Lunch booked at the Auchrannie Resort in Brodick (Auchrannie Rd, Isle of Arran KA27 8BZ) the lunch will be in the Brambles Restaurant.
After lunch we will set off on a bike ride round the island. 2 routes have been planned to cater for our members.
The first route is 42 miles which starts over the string from Brodick turning right at Blackwaterfoot and then completing the loop clockwise round the Island returning back at the Auchrannie Resort for around 5pm.
The second route is 55 miles and completes a full loop clockwise of the Island heading south from Brodick. The plan is to be back at the Auchrannie Resort for 5pm
Once everyone is back at the resort we will have teas, coffees, cakes and a celebration of our Anniversary.
The plan is to travel back on the 7:20 Ferry to Ardrossan and then head home.
The weather forecast for Sunday is heavy rain showers. We have been in touch with the Calmac to determine if the ferry will be operating on Sunday due to forecast of high winds later in the day. The feedback from them at present is that the plans are to sail on Sunday. However we will keep you up to date should this change.
As with any club run/event, please check over your bike, bring the necessary equipment for a day in the saddle. For those of you who have first aid packs, please bring them along. We will require the support of group leaders on the day as we normally would for a club run.
A link to the event programme is below and we would ask everyone to familiarise themselves with the routes on the Isle of Arran before Sunday.
