GGCC Christmas Club Ride - 21st December 2014

19 Dec 2014

GGCC Christmas Ride – 21st December 2014 - 'To Santa's Grotto in Dumbarton and back'

We plan to head west on Sunday for our Christmas Social Ride to Santa's Grotto (cleverly disguised as a McDonalds) in Dumbarton! - 30 miles

Christmas decorations on bikes, helmets and people highly recommended!! :-)
The more decorations, bells, lights and tinsel the better!! Ho Ho Ho!!!!

Please meet at the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each group runs as smoothly as possible.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

http://connect.garmin.com/course/8523343#

Weather is to be around 10 degrees, heavy rain and an 18 mph WSW wind gusting to 40mph - THIS IS ALSO THE REASON WHY WE ARE RIDING OUR SAFETY ROUTE.

There will be NO PCED GROUPS going out to the coffee stop at Santas Grotto as its a Christmas Social Ride but we mat split into paced groups for the return.

If we do split then, everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Cheeky Challenge or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph
Cheeky Challenge is arounf 18mph - 20mph

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
