It was another brilliant turnout by the members of GGCC last night at Dales Cycles. Over 60 members were there to find out whats in store for 2015.
As always, the team @ Dales Cycles spoiled us by putting on a BBQ (yes a BBQ on the 1st of March) along with Beers, soft drinks and snacks.
The night kicked off with a summary of 2014 by Andy and Ray. 2014 was our biggest and most successful year so far. Our success is measured in many ways. However what the Team @ GGCC is most proud of is the support we get from our members. This support allows the club to grow with fantastic people who enjoy riding their bikes. A number of our riders have had excellent results in the events they have taken part in whether that is on the road, track, CX, Sportives and national events.
2015 is a year that will allow us all to benefit from the success and experiences to date. We want to make sure this year provides the best platform for us all to continue to enjoy riding our bikes. Our focus for the year ahead is to make our events better and not necessarily bigger. By taking the time to make sure we are doing all we can for our members is important to us. We want our members to get the overall experience of a National Level event from our club confined and regional events. As always, feedback and support from our members is key to our success.
This year GGCC will host over 10 events. These will consist of Hill Climbs, Time Trials, The Scottish Womens Road Race Series, WoSCA road Race series, A Cyclo Cross event later in the year as well as the much-anticipated GGCC Anniversary Sportive.
All of this wouldn’t be possible without the support from our partnership with Dales Cycles.
The team @ Dales talked about the way they are looking to improve on the partnership for 2015. Graeme and Debbie ran through some key areas where we will better supported going forward.
The first point was that Dales are putting in a dedicated service team specifically for GGCC members. We will have direct access to 4 of the team within Dales. The team are on hand to support with general enquiries, servicing needs, bike fit request and overall sales support. Full contact details for Simon, Jonathan, Graham and Luke will be posted out separately.
The fantastic GGCC discount remains which is great news and really helpful when making purchases in store or online.
In addition to our member discount, Dales have extended our discount to friends and family until the 1st of May. If any of your friends or loved ones are looking for a bike, accessories etc then they will have access to our same level of discount for the next 2 months. BRILLIANT NEWS!
Dales have also added in a priority pass system especially for GGCC members. This will allow all the GGCC crew to have a quicker turn around on our repairs, builds and servicing needs.
As always, Dales will make sure GGCC are the first to hear of any new offers or sales that are planned in store in order that can make the most of them.
Our previous benefits are still in place such as the free tube and canister replacement and access to demo stock, coffee and cakes, event support and many more. Full details of our benefits can be found on the members section of the GGCC website.
Dales have now taken on the Storck bike brand and Ian from Storck gave a talk around the history of the brand. It was really interesting to hear how the company has developed over the last 20 years to a leading bike manufacturer with an amazing range of bikes. We would encourage our members to pop in and have a look at the full range of bikes Dales offer from Storck. We are planning a demo day in the coming months where our members can have access to try some of these great bikes. More details on this to follow.
John Dargie was on hand to explain how to get the most from your bike. Whether that is based on a bike fit or specific coaching, John and the team are on hand to support your goals as cyclists and help you make the right decisions on training plans through to purchasing new bikes or parts to making those “marginal gains”
House of Glass revealed the 2015 GGCC Member of the Year award! It was great to see Paul Bailey receive the award. Paul has supported the club extremely well over the past 12 months with group coaching sessions, planned weekend trips for the GGCC members to build on the skills to ride in a group and overall helping out on club runs on a regular basis. Thanks again Paul, your support is really appreciated.
The night was wrapped up with a GGCC raffle. Some fantastic prizes were on hand such as a free bike fit session, a Gore-Tex jacket, bottle of Whisky (donated by Stuart McKay) Bike branded t-shirts and many more.
A nice little touch from Dales was the gift for each and every member who was there. A water bottle including a GGCC/Dales Wristband and vouchers were there for us all to take away.
Another great night and a fantastic way to set up the year ahead. Here’s to another amazing year with GGCC.
