GGCC Club Ride details for Sunday 24th May 2015

North 48 miles - Anti clockwise.

As the GGCC Hill Climb has been cancelled / dferred, this week we will head North out towards Stepps, Kilsyth, onto The Crow Road then have coffee at The Kirkhouse, before heading back in via Milgavie and Torrance.

We can do the full Crow Road climb to the top and back down for those that are still looking to test themselves on this climb.

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.
Could the ride leaders please all chip in and help where they can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible?

Can ride leaders assist with new rider briefings, M-check, group allocation, first aid pack check and any other areas of focus that enable to ride to go without a hitch?

Please remember your £2 for coffee which we will be collected once we get to the Kirkhouse. The Kirkhouse has been called and arranged and are expecting us all and jugs of coffee and tea will be waiting for us.

If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Weather is to be overcast but DRY with only a 10% chance of rain, with temperatures at 7 - 10 degrees. Wind is to be 15mph Westerly gusting to 27

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE PACE at defined and agreed points along the route, and we will aim to minimize the stops.

Groups should contain between 8 and 10 riders.

Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.
Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.
Race Pace should be regularly and consistently over 20+mph

**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.

From all the team @ GGCC
