GGCC Club Run - Wednesday 2nd September 2015
Strathaven Route with Greenlees Road climb to start - 30 mile
**We wont do the Strathaven route in this direction after Wednesday due to lighting on roads. We probably have another few weeks of doing the ride with Sydes Brae first so we are on lit roads at end of ride.
This week we will head out towards Cambuslang, up Greenlees Road at the start, on into East Kilbride and then out to Strathaven, from there head towards Hamilton but turn along Muttonhall Road and then down Sydes Brae before heading back towards Cambuslang via Halfway and then turn towards the McDonalds where we meet.
PLEASE ENSURE you have adequate lights front and rear.
PLEASE make sure you are comfortable with the route prior to wednesdays ride.

Meet at 6.45pm for a 7pm start at the McDonalds at the end of London Road near the junction of the M74.
We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.
If you have been given a first aid pack or have your own, can you bring this with you on club runs?
Weather is to be around 12 degrees, cloudy but dry with only a 5% chance of rain, an 8mph NW wind gusting to 17mph.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE PACE at defined and agreed points along the route, and we will aim to minimize the stops.
Groups should contain between 8 and 10 riders.
Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.
Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.
Race Pace should be regularly and consistently over with no backing off 20+mph
**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions
**If you need to ask a group to slow up or ride steady then its suggested you step down a group
Please pick your group carefully and remember that all groups work together to promote group riding but steady is the only group that rides at the pace of the slowest rider and the other groups don't wait for dropped riders unless agreed amongst the group and riders on the night
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool as you should not expect the other riders to have spares to cater for any mishaps. Our members should always be self sufficient Please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
