GGCC Sunday Club Run - South 48 Miles

23 Oct 2015

GGCC Club Ride – 25th Ocotber 2015 - South of Glasgow (48 miles)

We plan to head south over Eaglesham Moor. Up towards East Kilbride, along Stewartfield, through Eaglesham for our coffee stop on the moor at the Windfarm, onto A77 and then back into town from The Malletheugh.

Please meet under the Arch on the green for an 8:30am start.

Please remember to bring your £2 for our coffee stop at the Windfarm. (don’t be surprised if they only charge you £1.80) You can pay the staff at the windfarm when you get there for your drink. Please bring extra if you want another drink or a cake.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

 http://connect.garmin.com/course/4225676

Forecast is 8 degrees, cloudy though dry with a 13 mph wind from the  south west.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE & RACE PACE

Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Cheeky Challenge or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

There is an option to do a longer route after the coffee stop using the Clunch Road and Stewarton Road back to the Indian Platform though we will agree this on Sunday.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph

Challenge should stretch you at around 16 - 18mph

Cheeky Challenge is around 18mph - 20mph

Race Pace is around 20mph +

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean** From all the Team @ GGCC
