GGCC Club Ride details for Sunday 4th December 2016 - North 48 miles - Anti clockwise

'THE SUNDAY SOCIAL' :-)

Lets continue our weekend of celebrations with a truly social Sunday ride, normal format with nice paced riding and a coffee stop for banter and chat.

This week we will head North out towards Stepps, Kilsyth, towards Lennoxtown onto The Crow Road then have coffee at The Kirkhouse, before heading back in via Milgavie and Torrance.

Please make sure you are familiar with the route prior to Sundays ride.

Please can you try and use daytime riding lights for safety and please have a first aid pack if you can.

https://connect.garmin.com/course/5418590#

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.

Could the ride leaders please all chip in and help where they can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible?

**GROUP LEADERS will be identified and nominated at Glasgow Green and a quick brief will be discussed for the ride ahead and agreed **back to basics** At the split point before we move to paced groups, each group leader will get their respective group together and brief the group on the etiquette of the ride, what should and will happen and the format of the day so everyone in the group fully understands so everyone gets the most from the group they take part in.

Can ride leaders assist with new rider briefings, M-check, group allocation, first aid pack check and any other areas of focus that enable to ride to go without a hitch?

Please remember your £2 for coffee which we will be collected once we get to the Kirkhouse. The Kirkhouse has been called and arranged and are expecting us all and jugs of coffee and tea will be waiting for us.

If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Weather is to be clear, dry and bright, with a very low chance of rian, less than 5%! temperatures will be around 1 - 3 degrees, with winds of 4mph from the NE gusting to 8mph.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and CHEEKY CHALLENGE and work together as groups.

Everyone takes the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the faster groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join. All groups work together at the start until the group is in a rhythm.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph

Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph

Cheeky Challenge is 18 - 20 mph

**Please try and ride to the overall speeds of the above guides.

We will stop and regroup at the Quarry and the coffee stop only so efforts are more consistent and as 1 group arrives the previous group sets off so we minimize waiting around.

ALTHOUGH THIS IS OUR NORMAL FORMAT WE ARE STILL TRYING TO REDUCE STOPS

**Speeds quoted are an overall average and the groups may be faster and slower at certain points throughout the ride.

**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard)

**If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

See you all Sunday.
