GGCC Club Run - Wednesday 8th May 2019 – 'The Giro D' Eaglesham' **NEW ROUTE**
Owing to the recent reports of roadworks here and there on our usual route, this route was submitted by two of our regular Wednesday riders as a suitable group-friendly alternative. Take a bow Enrico Amato and Jim Mortimer!! Cheers!
We will head out to cambuslang, part-way up Greenlees road where we will turn right onto Brownside road, left onto Burnside ave, right onto Blairbeth rd, onto croftfoot rd, left onto carmunnock rd and onto the bypass, over roundabout onto Peel rd and through Thorntonhall, right onto Holehouse rd, Left through Eaglesham village, and left onto the lanes (Millhall rd), right onto burnhouse rd, right onto Millwell rd and finally left onto A726 (stathaven rd) where we will follow our usual route into E.K., down the Expressway and back to Mcdonalds via Greenlees rd OR Brownside rd through Cambuslang.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TAKEN A LOOK AT THE ROUTE BEFORE LEAVING AND IMPORT IT TO YOUR GARMIN / WAHOO IF YOU HAVE MAP FUNCTIONALITY. It would be a great benefit if someone in each group has the turn-by-turn route in their bike computer.

Meet at 7pm at the McDonalds at the end of London Road near the junction of the M74.
We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.
If you have been given a first aid pack or have your own, can you bring this with you on club runs?
Please can group leaders help with the ride as much as possible.
Weather is to be showery at the start but drying out by 8 oclock.
Temperatures around 10 degrees with a 8mph W wind gusting to 14mph and a 5 - 10% chance of more rain.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LIGHTS AS IT IS STILL RELATIVELY DARK AT THE END OF THE RIDE
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE PACE at defined and agreed points along the route, and we will aim to minimize the stops.
Groups should contain between 8 and 10 riders.
Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.
Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18 - 20 mph.
Race Pace should be regularly and consistently over 20+mph
**NO DROP AND WORK TOGETHER**
**these are the averages you should expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions
**Please remember to communicate within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard)
**If you need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be in the wrong group
Please pick your group carefully and remember that all groups work together to promote group riding but steady is the only group that rides at the pace of the slowest rider and the other groups don't wait for dropped riders unless agreed amongst the group and riders on the night
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained **
