GGCC Club Run, Sunday 15th -
North
Option 1-58 miles / Option 2-88 miles
'The GGCC Tommy Dorrian Memorial
Ride'
Its 5 years today since Wee Tommy left
us and we all know that Tommy epitomised what GGCC is all
about............riding bikes, having fun, friendship and camaraderie and
enjoying our beautiful roads on 2 wheels.
So, with that in mind and as a mark
of respect to Tommy, GGCC will get on our bikes on Sunday and ride some of his
favourite roads, so join your GGCC friends on what will be a great day and
ride!
We have 2 ‘official’ options on
sunday. For those that haven't got the time......or the legs to do the full run
we plan to do and out and back to Aberfoyle with a visit to Tommy's Turn on
Dukes Pass. For those that want a full day in the saddle the option is to carry
on from Tommy's Turn over Dukes Pass and around Loch Katrine.
ALL of GGCC will ride out in mixed
groups to Aberfoyle at a leisurely pace (no paced groups on way out) and
probably stop prior to Dukes Pass in Aberfoyle for a coffee so please bring
funds to pay for your own refreshments as nothing official is arranged.
We will head out of town via Possil,
to Milngavie and out through Strathblane.
Please meet under the McLennan Arch
on the green for 8:30am sharp start.
We will go through some basic safety,
first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays
safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
The group leaders will be identified
prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as
possible.
For those of you who are first aid
trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along
on Sunday (and each run you attend)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE
ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

Forecast is to good!! Dry, sunny spells and
a less than 10% chance of rain, with temperatures up around 13-18 degrees, and
an easterly wind of 10mph gusting to 18mph.
Remember we will ride to Aberfoyle as
social groups so no paced groups to Aberfoyle and then decide how we want to
structure the return and the Katrine loop
**Each group stays
together and works as a group and does not drop anyone so nobody is left
exposed and riding solo
**these are the averages you should
expect over the course of the ride in the above groups and there will be
sections ridden faster and some slower depending on road profile and conditions
**Please remember to communicate
within your group. If you get split due to junctions, traffic, roundabouts then
get back together. If you get split as someone is dropping off the pace then
that rider steps down a group, (or steps up if going through to hard) **If you
need to ask the group to slow up, we would suggest you step down as you may be
in the wrong group
**Please remember tubes, pump,
levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order,
oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
