GGCC CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT – suspension of official activity
UPDATE ON CLUB RIDE DETAILS – COVID19
As you are aware, GGCC has done, and will continue to do all it can to ensure we operate in a safe and fun environment and limit / reduce the risk as much as we can so that we do not contribute in any way to any potential or perceived risk with regards to the current situation – Covid 19
It’s an ever-changing landscape and we are under guidelines in our everyday life that have been imposed to try and limit the spread.
I agree that it’s a confusing state of affairs and it is a mine field of what you can, cant, should, shouldn’t do and each and every one of you will have your own opinion on what is realistic, viable, acceptable and workable.
Scottish Cycling have released guidelines that state that club activity can proceed BUT in the current climate we consider that to be a little irresponsible and unrealistic based on who is allowed to mix and in what circumstances you are allowed to mix in.
We must remember that this is a hobby and as I’ve said before a passion and in the grand scheme of things it’s a pastime we turn to as an escape and we want to be able to do that for many years to come.
SO – as a club we have decided to SUSPEND ALL CLUB ACTIVUTY for a period of 2 weeks and will review again so that we look at a potential return once again on Sunday 11th October
This will give everyone the opportunity to understand how the next few weeks will play out. I appreciate that some clubs will continue and that’s absolutely fine but we just don’t feel that its appropriate to do so at the moment, so I hope you understand.
Having large groups of cyclists out on the roads may cause more trouble, hassle and concern that its worth with people’s perception at the moment of what is right and wrong so 2 weeks of no official club activity is for the best.
GGCC will not under any circumstance put you or your extended family and friends in any sort of situation that may be a risk.
I can only apologise for this, but we believe this to be the correct course of action for all.
We will as ever keep you completely up to date and once again thank you for your support, understanding, patience and look forward to riding again very soon when its appropriate to do so
