GGCC Club Ride details for Sunday 28th April - North – Strathblane to Kilsyth - 45 miles
This Sunday we plan to head north through Milngavie and then along the foot of the Campsies. We will have a coffee stop at the Boathouse in Kilsyth. We can then all head back into town along the A80.
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for a 8:30am sharp start. We will collect £2 for the coffees etc before setting off and will call the order in to enable the staff at the Boathouse to have it ready for us arriving.
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE. Route Details
Weather is to be around 8 degrees with some rain, with 15 mph westerly winds. The route has been planned to have a tailwind along the foot of the Campsie Hills.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and potentially RACE pace if the numbers and weather allow it.
Based on some feedback from our members we will try and incorporate an additional group to cater with a difference in speed between Steady and Challenge.
Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Race or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is 20+mph
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.
From all the team @ GGCC
