16 Aug 2013

GGCC Club Ride – 18th August 2013 - 'Up over Eaglesham and the A77' (48 miles)

We plan to head south towards Eaglesham Moor and then down to Fenwick and up the A77 before heading back into town.

We will stop at the Whitelee Wind Farm for a coffee stop. this is approximately 15 miles into the ride.

Please meet at the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.

Please can we have some help from group leaders on Sunday to make sure all the groups are covered.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

http://connect.garmin.com/course/4513253

Weather is to be around 14 degrees, Sunny with with 10 mph north east winds.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and RACE PACE

Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Race or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is 20+mph

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**

See you all Sunday.
