GGCC Club Ride – 25th August 2013 - 'Out to Strathblane, up the Crow and back in via The Boathouse' (50 miles)
We plan to head north towards Milngavie and Strathblane then onto the Crow and then to Kilsyth for coffee at The Boathouse before heading back into town via Stepps.
Please bring your £2 for coffee which will be collected before we set off. We will be using the back room at The Boathouse (the room we used after the hill climb) that they have put aside just for us and they will be putting on big jugs of coffee and tea for us.
Please meet at the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.
The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.
Please can we have some help from group leaders on Sunday to make sure all the groups are covered.
We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.
http://connect.garmin.com/course/3622115
Weather is to be around 15 degrees, sunny intervals with 3 mph northerly wind.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and RACE PACE
Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Race or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is 20+mph
Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.
