Club Run details 4th September 2013

03 Sep 2013

GGCC Club Run - Wednesday 4th September 2013 – Strathaven Route with Sydes Brae Climb. It’s the same route as last week though the reason is to make sure we are cycling on street lit roads when its gets dark.

We will head through Blantyre, Up Sydes Brae then onto Strathaven before heading back to East Kilbride due to the roads being lit in East Kilbride to help with visibility at the end of the run.

*WE INSIST THAT EVERYONE SHOULD USE LIGHTS FOR THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT RUNS FROM NOW ON. PLEASE BRING LIGHTS WITH YOU, AS YOU WILL BE RIDING IN THE DARK DURING THE SECOND PART OF THE RUN.

Meet at 6.45pm for a 7pm sharp start at the McDonalds at the end of London Road near the junction of the M74.

Andy and Ray will not be there tomorrow night. Can we have the groups leaders take control of the ride tomorrow? Also can you help with any new members who come along and run through the following info with the entire group?

1. Check who has first aid packs
2. Check who will be taking each group
3. Run through the M check
4. Summarise the route for those who are not familiar with the Wednesday run
5. Ensure the stopping points are made clear to each group before everyone sets off of each section of the ride.

We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.

If you have been given a first aid pack or have your own, can you bring this with you on club runs?

There is a slight change to the end of the run to avoid the Greenlees Road decent.

Weather is to be 12- 15 degrees and dry. There will be a Southerly wind of around 15 mph

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and RACE PACE at defined and agreed points along the route.

Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.
Challenge should push your ability and sits about 18mph average.
Race Pace is faster and is around 20mph+.

Please pick your group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained **
