Club Run Details 18th December 2013

17 Dec 2013

Wednesday 18th December 2013 GGCC Club Ride - East Kilbride Roundabout Run. 25 Miles.

Route Details

East Kilbride Roundabout Run so Greenlees Road as the warm up and then onto East Kilbride. We will the work on some group rotation and chain-gang up and down The Queensway before heading back via Castlemilk.

We ask that all our riders use front and rear lights during our winter evening rides. In addition to this, we also ask riders to fit mud guards to their bikes in poor weather conditions.

After the Greenlees Road climb, everyone will pull over to  allow all the paced groups to be agreed and the group leaders to have a quick 30sec run through of the format of the ride.

The idea is for the cheeky challenge to turn left at the Technology Park and head up to the roundabout just past Calderglen Country Park. The other groups will turn right as per usual.

Meet at 6.45pm for a 7pm sharp start at the McDonalds at the end of London Road near the junction of the M74.

We will go through some basic safety tips and group riding etiquette before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what happens on the ride.

If you have been given a first aid pack or have your own, can you bring this with you on club runs?

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE and CHEEKY CHALLENGE at defined and agreed points along the route. Groups should contain between 6 and 8 riders.

Steady is steady and usually sit between 14 – 16 mph average.

Challenge should push your ability and sits about 16 - 18 mph average.

Cheeky Challenge is slightly faster and is around 18+ mph.

Please pick your group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

Weather is to be around 8 degrees, 24 mph southerly wind with chances of heavy rain.

During the winter we may need to cancel the ride due to adverse conditions, so we ask that you check the website, facebook or twitter for updates should the weather affect the ride.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained **
