GGCC Club Run,
Sunday 23rd March 2014, South –
48 Miles
We plan to head south over Eaglesham Moor. Up towards East
Kilbride, along Stewartfield, through Eaglesham for our coffee stop on the moor
at the Windfarm. We will then split into paced groups and head onto the A77 and
then back into town from The Malletheugh.
Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green
for 8:30am.
We will go
through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique,
first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe
and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.
Please
remember to bring your £2 for our coffee stop at the Windfarm. We will collect
this before we set off and a volunteer would be great. Please bring extra if
you want another drink or a cake.
The group leaders will be identified prior to
setting off in order that each paced group runs as smoothly as possible.
For those of you who are first aid trained and
have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday
(and each run you attend)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO
SUNDAYS RIDE.

Forecast is to be 6 degress, 15mph wind from the
west with a slight chance of rain.
We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE & RACE PACE
Everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong
group or get dropped from the Cheeky Challenge or Challenge groups, there will
always be a group coming up that you can join.
An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are
-
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph -
18mph
Cheeky Challenge is around 18mph - 20mph
Race Pace is
20 mph +
Pick you group carefully and remember that
steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.
**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool
and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed,
maintained and clean**
