Exciting new additions to our evening with Derek Stewart!
In 2008 Derek Stewart entered his first triathlon to raise money for charity, it also gave him a reason to get fit and learn to swim properly. In 2010 he completed his first Ironman (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile marathon) and proved to himself what was possible with a focused and disciplined approach.
Completing Ironman was the start of a journey, not the finish as he then raised his sights to complete the "toughest footrace on Earth" the Marathon des Sables; 5.5 marathons in 6 days across the Sahara Desert. His current goals include; for 2014; 53 mile Ultramarathon, 70.3 Ironman and a 10km river swim. In September 2015 he will also be running the Grand to Grand Ultra at the Grand Canyon USA. 6 stages, 7 days; a total race length of 170 miles.
Derek is an exceptional example of what can be achieved when you are focused & we're absoloutely thrilled to have him come to our Glasgow store in April. He'll take us through his
journey from non-participant to conquering some of the toughest events on the planet, giving an insight to these gruelling events & the type on training & mindset required to stand on the start line.
As an addition to what is already sure to be an evening to remember, we will have a special sneak preview of the new AVIP road clothing range from POC, the market leader in cycle safety. We'll also be making a prize draw, where one lucky person will win a POC Octal helmet, one of the most anticipated cycle accessories of the last few years.
We're also pleased to be officially launching our intent to support Maggie's Centres as our adopted charity. The Guys from Maggie's will be along to tell us more about the great work this amazing charity does for those affected by cancer.
