GGCC Club Ride details for Sunday 21st September 2014

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am start.
Both Andy & Ray are away this weekend so can we ask that we have a volunteer (or 2 or 3) to take overall responsibility for the ride and arrange groups as per our normal format.
**PLEASE CAN YOU POST BELOW IF YOU ARE OK TO LEAD, THANKS

Could the ride leaders please all chip in general where they can and make sure the run goes as smoothly as possible?

Please remember your £2 for coffee which we will be collected once we get to the Kirkhouse. The Kirkhouse has been called and arranged and are expecting you all.

If any new riders come along, can folk buddy up where possible?

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Weather is to be around 10 degrees, cloudy but dry, with winds around 2 mph from the east.

We will split into STEADY, CHALLENGE, CHEEKY CHALLENGE and RACE PACE.

Everyone takes the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the faster groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -
Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph
Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph
Cheeky Challenge is 18 - 20 mph
Race Pace is 20mph+

This is the overall average each group should achieve over the ride.

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
See you all Sunday.

From all the team @ GGCC
