Club Run Details 1st feb 2015 - Default Winter route to Dumbarton

30 Jan 2015

GGCC Club Ride – 1st February 2015 - Dumbarton McDonalds Ride due to Adverse Weather Forecast

We plan to head west to Dumbarton on Sunday for our GGCC Club Ride - 30 miles

There is still a large risk associated with ice on the roads for this weekend therefore we will look to ride the Dumbarton route if the conditions allow.

**PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON FACEBOOK/TWITTER and the GGCC WEBSITE ON SATURDAY EVENING AS IF THE WEATHER DOESN’T IMPROVFE SIGNIFICANTLY WE WILL CONSIDER CANCELLING THE RIDE**

WE WILL POST AN UPDATE AROUND 7pm ON SATURDAY EVENING

Please meet at the McLennan Arch on the green for an 8:30am sharp start.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each group runs as smoothly as possible.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE ROUTE PRIOR TO SUNDAYS RIDE.

Weather is to be around 2 or 3 degrees, with a severe weather forecast in place with winds up at 20mph from the NW.

There will be NO PACED GROUPS going out to the coffee stop at Dumbarton, but we may split for the return leg.

If we do split then, everyone will take the same route so if you choose the wrong group or get dropped from the Cheeky Challenge or Challenge groups, there will always be a group coming up that you can join.

An idea of the pace each group should ride @ are -

Steady IS steady at about 14 -16mph

Challenge should stretch you at around 16mph - 18mph

Cheeky Challenge is around 18mph - 20mph

Pick you group carefully and remember that steady is the only group that holds back and does not drop anyone.

**Please remember tubes, pump, levers, multitool and also please ensure your bike is in good working order, oiled, lubed, maintained and clean**
