GGCC Autumn Time Trial, Sunday 27th September 2015

This weekend, GGCC will hosts its first Time Trial from Strathblane.

We will be accepting entries on the day and will allow members to pair up on the day or ride the course solo.

If you have not entered already then there will be some spaces on the day for those last minute entries.

We already have nearly 40 riders but spaces in the start sheet for last minute entries.

We plan to head out towards Strathblane to then meet at the Kirkhouse Inn for sign on from 9:30. This part of the ride is 15 miles.

Please meet under the McLennan Arch on the green for 8:30am.

We will go through some basic safety, group riding etiquette and group riding technique, first aid and basic bike maintenance before we set off so that everyone stays safe and knows exactly what’s happening on the ride.

The group leaders will be identified prior to setting off in order that each group runs as smoothly as possible on the way to the A77.

For those of you who are first aid trained and have been issued first aid pack, can you please bring these along on Sunday (and each run you attend)

Forecast is to be 8 degress, 7mph wind from the north east with only a 10% chance of rain.

Please remember to bring your £3 which will be your entry fee for the day. Your entry fee includes your race entry, associated insurances for the event as well as snacks and refreshments after the event.

For those of you who will be heading straight to the event and not to the green, there are plenty of car parking spaces and areas to warm up.

Sign on for the event will be from 9:00 am to 9:45 and will be held in the restaurant area to the left of the main door of Kirkhouse Inn.

Dales Cyles have also kindly donated the goody bags for the winners on the day. GGCC have also contributed to the prizes by offering a £10 gift voucher for all of the winners.

A full breakdown of the prize categories is on the events page and programme.

An event briefing will be held in the Kirkhouse Inn at 9:45. We ask that every rider is present for the briefing. This is an important point of the morning as this will inform you of all aspects of the start, course, conditions, finish area and post event prize giving.

The first rider will be set off at 10:01. The distance from the sign on area to the start line is only 100 metres. Please allow a few minutes to get to the start time as you will not be able to alter your time and may need to be allocated a later start time.

Should you wish to warm up prior to the event then you can use the Strathblane to Aberfoyle Road (A81) as this is a suitable road and shouldn’t be too busy

We would encourage all the riders to stay for the full event and support the riders and prize winners. Sunday is not a day for getting the miles in, its about getting involved and supporting your club and fellow members.

The Kirkhouse Inn will be open from 8:30 and will have teas, coffees and water available to those who have a later start time. From 11 am, hot snacks will be available as well as hot drinks for all the riders and support crew.

We are expecting the event to finish for around 12:30.

We look forward to seeing you all on the morning of the event.
From all the team @ GGCC
