GGCC UPDATE – 9 Nov 2020
With the end of the year soon upon us I wanted to give a quick update on what the plans are for our year end, and at the moment unfortunately with the current guidelines, regulations, social distancing and covid-19 measures GGCC as a club wont be planning any end of year celebrations as we have known them.
We have always had an xmas night of celebrations that incorporates our Christmas night out, our championship awards ceremony and our yearly awards but as you know this year has been different to say the least.
There has been no championship in 2020 and riding as a club stopped back in March with only a 2-week window in September when we retuned before restrictions started again.
I believe that GGCC have acted proactively this year and as a club I hope you will agree that the safety of you the members and your extended bubble of friends and family has come before anything which has resulted in no official activity pretty much all year but this is I believe has been a small sacrifice to pay.
As yet we can only hope that 2021 will be as normal as possible and plans are already in place and being developed for a return to what we do and do very well for 2021 and that is a full championship programme, hosting the CTT national 25mile TT championship and our regular club rides but this of course all depends on the state of the overall environment we will be living in.
With regards to a year end for 2020 we were thinking of an ‘en-mass’ end of year zoom / teams call where we could get on and have some face to face time and review what has actually happened and ‘maybe’ just award some online trophies as there has still been some huge contributions this year that would be nice to recognise……question is would you all be up for that as I’m well up for organising it for one evening as a substitute for a year end celebration?
Towards the end of December we will send out a full plan for 2021 so you know what we have planned and w3hat is coming all being well so let us know about a zoom/ teams get together and here’s to what I hope will be a huge 2021………I’ve got everything crossed GGCC’ers!
