Get into amateur racing in 2012

06 Feb 2012

The race season is almost upon us and now is a great opportunity to highlight a number of events that you feel would be a good focus to help with improving your fitness and biking experience over the coming months.

Below is a link to the 2012 race calendar via British/Scottish Cycling. Whether its road, mountain or track then there are plenty of events to help get you started.

Information on getting started with amateur racing.

Over the coming weeks GGCC will be focussing on techniques during and after our club runs which will help us all.

We have been really pleased with the progress our members are making both individually and as a group. We have seen our group riding skills improving each and every week with more communication between the riders. Being out in poor conditions over the last few weeks has helped each rider gain more confidence as well as improve bike handling skills.

GGCC will be taking these skills to a new level in the near future by introducing structured training for our members. The benefit of this will help each of the members to improve in certain areas. The team at GGCC would encourage everyone to get involved when we announce the format of the training.

Even if you have no intentions of taking part in any event this year the training will still help develop your riding in many different ways which you can then transfer to the club runs each an every week.

Lastly, this link will take you to the main events page of the British Cycling website. Have a look through the various events in your area. As you may be aware, a number of our members are looking to get stuck into to some beginner races as well as sportives throughout the year so you will not be alone should you wish to get involved.

Speak to Andy or Ray for more details and watch out for the training days planned over the coming weeks.

Thanks, The Team @ GGCC
